Welcome

MiA_Kurse1.jpg

Chatting, swirling, quizzing. With MiA.

MiA is a lovely woman's name, and in this course, it stands for "Migrant Women Simply Strong in Everyday Life." The use of a woman's name is fitting, as the course is exclusively for women with a migration background. In a friendly, open, and above all, stress-free atmosphere, you can practice your German, make new contacts, and exchange experiences. You will also receive tips and support of all kinds to help you better manage everyday life in Germany. The MiA courses are offered in cooperation with the AWO (Workers' Welfare Association) local branch in Sonthofen and are funded by the BAMF (Federal Office for Migration and Refugees).

The concept combines practical activities like cooking, crafting, or sewing with conversations about important everyday topics – for example, health, school, family, or dealing with authorities. Women without literacy skills can familiarize themselves with letters, while those with low literacy have the opportunity to practice and improve their reading and writing. However, the focus is primarily on the enjoyment of meeting and exchanging ideas. In this relaxed atmosphere, learning German almost becomes secondary – and happens quite naturally.

Women aged 16 and over who have not yet obtained a school-leaving certificate or vocational qualification in Germany are eligible to participate. Recognized asylum seekers can also participate, provided they have been living in Bavaria for less than two years. Registration takes place in person during office hours at the Oberallgäu Adult Education Center and is always possible, as it is an ongoing course. Please bring your ID and residency documents. Come along and take the plunge into life with us!

Whose ears are growing so long? 🐰

Well, our hardworking MiA ladies, who are acting as Easter bunnies and packing sweet treats into little Easter gifts 🍫🎁

And who receives these sweet surprises? Firstly, the children who are accommodated in the "Rockzipfel" (a local term for a child caring for children during the midday care period), and secondly, children who depend on the Sonthofen food bank.

And who exactly are the MiA Easter bunnies? They are participants in the project "Migrant Women Simply Strong in Everyday Life" (MiA) at the Oberallgäu Adult Education Center. Here, women from all over the world learn how to rock everyday life in Germany – from paperwork to their favorite bakery.

The delicious Easter treats were donated by the AWO local association Sonthofen as part of the annual campaign “KiMut – Encouraging Children”.

And when does the Easter Bunny finally hop off? Right before the holidays, of course! 🐇💨
And who shouts joyfully through the spring air? Exactly – the children, holding their bags of sweets and excited to bite into their chocolate bunny ears right now. 🌷😄
